Harrah’s casino in Biloxi transformed their buffet into a food court. Here’s what I tried.

Tucked away in the back corner of Harrah’s, where the buffet used to be, is a new food court.

Port 17, Scoops and Beach Wok, three new food options inside the gaming floor, just opened next to the new non-smoking section of slot machines and the only Steak ‘n Shake on the Mississippi Coast.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Harrah’s parent company, Caesars Entertainment, did away with all the buffets in its casino resorts, leaving empty space for new creative food options.

While Scoops and Beach Wok weren’t quite open when I visited, Port 17 did not disappoint.

When you go to order, you’re greeted by a display of fresh seafood as well as whole crabs and fish.

The menu features Southern favorites like catfish, oysters, shrimp etouffee and their signature dish, the port platter — fried catfish strips, fried oysters and fried shrimp for $22.99.

We tried the New Orleans crab cakes and the wings.

Port 17 has six wing sauce options — lemon pepper dry rub, bourbon bbq, garlic parmesan, jamaican jerk, honey hot and hot sriracha — and come either boneless or bone-in. We tried the bbq and the honey hot, which was spicy enough to be appreciated by someone who loves spicy food. The wings were tender enough to fall off the bone and melt in your mouth.

The crab cakes come three to an order with a side of remoulade sauce and will run you $14.99. The wings can be ordered in an order of 6 for $9.99, 8 for $12.99 or 12 for $19.99. There’s also the option to make it a combo with fries and a drink for an extra $5.99.

Port 17 is open weekdays from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m.
